The world and this industry is now in a really uncertain stage and will continue to be for an unforeseen amount of time. I am sure for anyone in the modelling/creative industry you no doubt have concerns about how the world and this industry will be dealing with all this. In all honesty everyone in the world right now is currently ‘winging it’ and we can only take it step by step and do our best to understand WTF is going on. What we do know so far is that COVID-19 will have an impact on all industries such as advertising, marketing, events and PR and these industries have and will be some of the hardest hit by this craziness. Already, major events like the F1 and Australian Fashion Week have made cancellations. What does this mean for Models and the Creative Industry? •Brands who rely on stock from affected locations will not be able to access products and therefore shoots are being cancelled due to lack of anything to actually shoot. •promotional work will be limited due to the state of the events industry. •Castings are moving to online options to limit exposure to others •Many small shoots are being postponed and larger shoots are being cancelled due to social distancing measures •a spend ‘freeze’ is being put in place for most brands and advertising agencies until they can implement some reasonable and reliable strategies.
•Ensure your digis and portfolios are up to date, clients will be relying on them to book you •Keep your social media audience up to date on the precautions you are taking and your thoughts and feelings amongst this weird time, but don’t forget to keep a positive and calm attitude •castings will most likely be done via online •platforms, so get comfortable with the camera and talking about yourself as this will no-doubt become essential. •stay positive. In times of crisis it is very easy to get eat up in all the Media hype and feel the fear, so our advice is to keep yourself updated and educated about the current situation but try not to let it take over your mind. •Meditate, practice self-care, keep in contact with loved ones •use this time to support your fellow creatives and make valuable connections throughout the industry Social media use is already on the rise and will continue to rise. Online communication will be a new normal over the coming months and will no doubt be around to stay.
